A Marriage Contract, also known as a pre-nuptial agreement, or a cohabitation agreement for unmarried couples is a contract/agreement between two partners who intend to marry or cohabitate together in a single home. The Agreement sets out the terms and conditions that would govern the couple if they were to separate.
This Agreement covers mainly financial and property divisions in addition to who is responsible for which sole or joint debt. The agreement would also set out rules to govern whether a partner would have to pay spousal support if the parties separate.
Our Hometown lawyer, Tyler Banham has drafted numerous Marriage Contracts / Pre-Nuptial Agreements in addition to Cohabitation agreements. He will walk you through the process of how the agreement will work and be in force.
If you require a Cohabitation Agreement or a Marriage Contract/Pre-Nuptial Agreement, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive our Agreement Intake Questionnaire to get started.
In order for your agreement to be binding, each partner will require independent legal advice. At Hometown Law, we can arrange for a second lawyer to provide independent legal advice to one of the partners at the low prices of $250.00 for the second lawyer’s time.
